Growing Up

Natalee is growing up and part of growing up is spreading your wings a little bit.  We're proud of her everyday - but the last couple of weeks we've noticed she's making big strides in self help skills and taking initiative around the house.
She's zipping her own coat (that's a bigger deal than it sounds!).
She swallows pills now!
She's very interested in helping in the kitchen and is learning to brown meat, follow recipes, and mix ingredients.
She's making progress in finding a way to keep her cool without us interfering.
One of her favorite ways to cool down, decompress, or refocus is to reading her Bible.  She reads it ALL the time by choice.  Truly, this kid knows her Word.  Somehow she can rally the other two to sit on Mia's bed and she reads aloud to them - and they sit and listen - for long periods of time!
She's taken her role as big sister very seriously and helps care for and mentor Ameliya.
Tonight we let Natalee take another step into big girl world by signing up for a kids' community painting class and inviting a friend.  She and Jennady had a "great time" she tells me.  Big thanks to Granny Sara for taking her Friday night to accompany the girls to the class and for staying with them.  The project Natalee brought home is adorable - thank you also to teacher, Charlotte!
 Is that cute or what?
She seems so old some days...and it's a privilege to be her Mama.
