We moved Ameliya to a toddler bed yesterday. After a LOT of thought I realized that we were going to need the crib for Zayden sooner rather than later (he's a big boy & will grow out of the co-sleeper/bassinet in 2-3 months) and I didn't want Mia to have to get out the day we needed it - I wanted a nice transition. After much resistance (on my part) at giving up MORE space in this little humble house, we accepted Granny Sara's offer of a twin bed for Mia (thanks, Granny, and Papa George for helping deliver!). She was gracious and let us leave the box spring so Mia's bed is low, and we had dual bed rails that we'd saved from the Natalee and Xavier.
Natalee loaned Ameliya her princess sheets but I think this ball of fire will be pretty ecstatic that Grandma Num scored her some Minnie sheets for Christmas.
Natalee is a good bunk mate and helped Ameliya celebrate her new "big-girlhood."
Our ultimate goal is for the girls to have bunk beds, however Mike has to build them because they need to be shorter than standard bunks....because buying them would be too easy.
Two minutes after tucking the girls in we heard a "knock, knock, knock" on the bedroom door. The toddler tornado was up. {wink} Good thing I'm every bit as stubborn as she is. In her defense, I'd forgotten to give her one of her blankies and when I did she laid back down.
She was nervous all around about her new freedom and not sure what to think. She stayed in her bed until about 3 a.m. and then woke up with a coughing fit from the cold she's fighting. She came up to the crib (that's now in our room) and slept through till morning. So, slowly, we'll get there...I guess we'll let this little princess grow up just a little more. (sniff)
