Co-op Art - Paper Mache

Our brave co-op art teacher, Miss Janeane, took on the task of leading 25ish children through the making and painting of paper mache project.  The older children made masks or shapes, while most of the younger ones made pots/bowls, framing their paper mache around a bowl or bucket of Janeane's.  Sometimes I got anxiety watching the class.  Not Janeane, though.  She's cool as a cucumber when all those children are gooping glue and newspaper all over the tables.  She's a blessing - really.
Last class they go to paint them.  They kids are SO pleased with their work and I'm pretty impressed with their outcomes.  Janeane did a diligent job of having the kids keep layering their work so that the finished products were strong and able to stand along.
Natalee painted a pig with glasses on the bottom of her pot.

Xavier had to finish painting his at home...
He says it's a chef's hat!
I told him it makes a good nightstand pot, too, to hold his odds and ends treasures!
I appreciate all of our co-op classes so very much, but I especially appreciate the ones that give my kids experiences that they'd likely never otherwise get...like paper macheing!!
