Recently Micheal and I read the book Flat Stanley to the children. We all found it to be a hilarious and entertaining read and we devoured it in 2 1/2 days!
Tonight both of the children made a Flat Stanley and tomorrow we will send them out to tour the United States. We are hopeful that each Stanley will make it to every state, and we are going to keep track as we are updated. In the envelope with each Stanley I included a list of the 50 states, with a line beside and the following letter/steps to follow:
Hi!
My name is
_________________ and I am ______ years old.
Thank you for hosting my friend Stanley.
Flat Stanley is based on a character from the book Flat Stanley –
he is a little boy who gets flattened when his bulletin board falls from his
wall on top of him in bed and he discovers that being flat is actually quite
fun and allows him to travel places in an envelope!
I am hoping
that my Flat Stanley will make it to all 50 states.
Here is how
it works:
1. 1. Take a picture of you and Stanley together and/or
of Stanley with a landmark in your city/state.
2. 2. Get the
picture to us as quickly as possible in one of the following ways:
a.
Text the picture to my mom, Jenn, at 660.216.8252
b. Upload it
to our Facebook page: Beeler’s Flat Stanleys
c.
Email it to mom at jennbeeler@hotmail.com
d. Print it
and mail it to our home at _____________________________.
3. 3. Write your
name and city beside your state on this page.
4. 4. Think of
someone helpful and loving to mail Stanley to in a state that hasn’t already
been visited and send him traveling!
5. 5. To keep
things rolling please, please try to follow the steps and send Stanley
on his way within 2 days.
If you are
unable to complete these steps for any reason or you can’t think of
anyone in a state that hasn’t already been chosen please don’t feel bad. Just stick Stanley and this paper in an
envelope and send him home (address above)!
We’ll take it from there.
Likewise, if you are the last state you can just send Stanley home to
stay!
Thank you
SO much for participating. We are so
excited to get updates as our Stanley travels.
I am nerdily excited to get the pictures, track Stanley on maps with the children, and update our Facebook page. I am very hopeful that the Stanleys travel well and don't get stuck or lost!
