Natalee's First Softball Game

Natalee had to move up from CO-ED ball to 7-8 coach pitch softball.  This has proven to be an adjustment for both Natalee and her clueless mother.  I finally realized she needed a new (bigger) glove and got that taken care of.  I asked the nice man at the sports store if there was a difference between boy and girl ball pants (there are) and secured her a pair (we've worn shorts in previous years but it's cold so far this year).  I'm not sure if she needs a new bat (anyone??) but her helmet still seems to be fine (huzzah!).  One thing at a time...

This year we also have to do some traveling and play teams from other towns.  In addition, she gets three pitches and then strikes out each time she's at bat.  The traveling and adjusting to the different field was a bit offsetting for our first game, but Natalee successfully fielded a couple of balls, which was quite exciting to her.  She didn't get a hit this game, but we'll just practice and try again next time.
I am so grateful that she has kind, patient, gentle speaking coaches.  I've noticed on more than one occasion that instead of hollering/yelling, her coach will take the field and walk up to whichever girl he wants to correct or help and speak to her.  Obviously it's a game and there are times when a little holler is more efficient, but I appreciate the time and energy the coaches are taking to help us have a successful ball season.
 Usually I take better pictures - did I mention it was kind of cold?
Part of the cheering section...mommy made him wear a snow suit.  I let him take his socks off, though, so his feet didn't sweat!
 Keep her fed...
 and hydrated...
and she stays pretty happy!
(Xavier was there, too!  Eating popcorn and avoiding the camera.)
We finished just before the rain!  {God's Promise}

Good luck this season, Natalee.  Remember, as long as you try your best and your attitude stays positive then we're proud of you!
