Officially Six!

Our big girl turned SIX on Tuesday.  When I was doing her hair I said, "oh, Natalee, you are getting so old that you have to use 2 hands to show people how many years you are."  In all her Natalee seriousness she looked at me, signed 6 (ASL) and said, "no I don't."
Sigh.  I love her.

She started her day with a protein laden breakfast of eggs, sausage and toast.
She chose to do her school work because she likes her schedule.  The rest of the day was spent playing and anxiously awaiting Daddy to come home early for presents and supper.  He brought her flowers...
She looked at their wrapping and then looked at me with starry eyes and said, "Oh, mommy, he got them at Hy-Vee."  Apparently Hy-Vee is the place to shop in the eyes of a 6 year old.

Natural hair chalk, Polly Pockets, cowboy boots, a "Elsa" church dress, and April action figure with a #5 on her shirt were in the present line up...
The hair chalk has been so much fun!  It goes in easily and washes out well.
 I love her smile.
They have played and played and played with the Polly Pockets and the princess castle this week.  Maybe I should get rid of everything else (wink).

Granny Sara stopped by with gifts, including a wedding cake!  Papa George came by later to wish the birthday girl well.
Papa Curtis and Gma Num also came to town with a present for the birthday girl.  Her favorite out of the clothes in the box was the Olaf shirt!

Her smile of excitement is precious.

Natalee actually started celebrating her birthday the weekend of Thanksgiving.  My folks had her birthday lunch after church - hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill - as the birthday girl requested.  Papa Curtis even stood in the cold garage and BBQd like a dedicated grandpa.

She asked for a heart cake after having spotted mom's heart pans in the cabinet months ago.  I brought the pans home thinking I'd need them for her actual birthday but she changed her mind to cupcakes this week.  As you can see from her grin she loved her heart cake.
Grandma let her open a couple presents early (of course).
The much desired Frozen figures for her castle.  They've been played with daily she since got them and at night they go up and watch her sleep on her night stand (creepy?).
Aunt Lauren & Uncle Lance sent a birthday present home with me when I saw Lauren this weekend.  I was going to save it until her birthday on Tuesday but I caved Monday morning and let her open it.
Elsa & Kristoff (she has Anna already - don't sweat it!)
Coupled with the castle figures, these barbies are making our home very Frozen themed.  She loves them and I'm reminded that it's precious to watch others love on our child and celebrate with them.  Besides grandparents and aunts and uncles, Natalee has also had visits, cards, and gifts from great grandparents and great aunts/uncles.  She's a very blessed young lady.

You know what's as great or better than your actual birthday?  Waking up and having new clothes to wear and new toys to play with.  I think Xavier feels like he's reaping the benefits as well (of the toys, not the clothes!).
Yesterday's outfit was Olaf and new star sparkly leggings.
Today she's wearing her new comfy dress and leggings from Gma Num and Papa...unfortunately, as usually happens following her birthday, Natalee's sensory and immune system have crashed and she's on the couch with a high fever.   We're hopeful that a good rest and some immune boosters will kick this quickly.

Happy 6th birthday, sweet girl.  We love you so very much.
