Girls' Weekend {Celebrating Mom's Birthday}

On October 26th, Mom celebrated a "milestone" birthday.  Since her birthday was on a Saturday we got a wild hair to take a girls' weekend and go find some fun.  Mom, Lauren, Andrea, and I (and tag-along Evalynn) took off Saturday mid morning with no huge agenda.  We went to Des Moines and walked through the mall and a couple of other stores.  We discovered Trader Joe's cookie butter and "everything but the bagel" seasoning mix and in general just enjoyed each other's company and our time away.

We went to our hotel a couple of hours before our dinner reservation to rest and freshen up.
Evalynn approved of the stretching out!

Ready to go out.

Supper was at RoCA in downtown Des Moines and it was a lot of fun.  It was a small plate restaurant so we got lots of different things and all shared them.
There was also an adult costume party going on outside the restaurant window so, if you can imagine, it was like dinner and a show... ha.

After supper we headed back to the hotel and visited and wound down for the night.

I think we all slept pretty well, except that Ev was restless from 5:30 on.  She, of course, sacked out right before we were ready to leave.

We had brunch at The Machine Shed and it was delicious!  We arrived at just the right time because it was packed with a huge waiting line when we left.  A bit more brief shopping before heading back home to reality.

Happiest of happy birthdays, Mom.  Thanks for being you!  We love you.
