Day 7 brought us home...hotel breakfast and on the road by 9 which is pretty good for our crew.
We stopped once at a nice rest area to stretch out and then not again until we got into Des Moines. We stopped at the mall in DM to let the kids redeem their Barnes and Noble summer reading certificates and to eat food court food. A little ice cream for mom (I shared) and we were on our way.
Unfortunately we had a little brake trouble and had to pull over to phone dad and puzzle through what we needed to do. We were able to limp the van home thanks to his advice and made it home safe and sound! Travel is fun but home is lovely.
