This Week's Highlights! {Mar 6-12}

Sunday (March 6th).  A day to worship.
Mia started out with Daddy's coffee...
Zayden and I ended it with some Ergo snuggles...

Monday's highlight was our lesson about the water cycle.  It's a delight to see these two enjoying and understanding science in a way that I never really did.
Then, after we talked through drawing the cycle on the big white board, the kids drew it out on paper.
 My classroom helper...

We also started a fun math supplement called Life of Fred.  It's cute and easy and helps the kids see math in real life.

Monday evening after supper Xavier and I ran to Hy-Vee to pick up a few things.  I treated him to a milkshake.  He was a wonderful companion for the evening!

Tuesday was almost humid...as reflected in Ameliya's babyfro.
Zayden aired out his leggies too!

Wednesday we studied clouds!
Natalee, who has a huge memory, pulled out the Weather book and turned directly to the page about clouds and read to us while Xavier finished his gluing.
Then we dove into our Bible Study Guide for All Ages.  I've been terribly lax and let these fall to the wayside and the kids were overjoyed to pick them back up.  Nothing better than diving into the Word with your children.
Wednesday was a fantastic day in the eyes of my little scholars because we also got to do A to Z.  Only one letter left...they are so bummed to see this study coming to an end.
Our current read aloud is Follow My Leader.  The storyline is about a boy who loses his eyesight to a fireworks accident and has to re-learn everything.  The story mentioned a Braille slate and stylus and, being the awesome mom I am, I pulled mine out from when I taught (and learned!) Braille as a public school teacher.  My kids were pretty amazed at their rad mom.
Xavier has been working with Math wrap-ups to keep his adding and subtracting sharp.
Ameliya thinks she should do them, too. (Wednesday she had a PJ day.)

Thursday - pancake day!  The only photo of the day.

Friday was co-op day!
They talked about ice bergs and volcanoes in book club - fun!
In art the kids did paper bag batiking.
We also added a calendar and show and tell time after art and all the youngsters enjoyed it very much.

Today we did many Saturday things.  Laundry, cleaning, home repair, etc.  We also found some time to do a little art.  I gave the children only the primary colors and instructed them to make a different colored circle in each of six squares.  They had to mix colors to get orange, purple, and green, so that they could make a "rainbow".  We'll cut the circles tomorrow and make a caterpillar with them.
They did very well with mixing.
Little Miss Never Be Left Behind...

It seems as though even as we near the end of the school year, we have so much learning to look forward to.  The blessing of home education!
