Cousins

Kea and Miguel made their first venture "home" with Adelyn this weekend and we had some time yesterday to get in our loves and snuggles.
I appreciate now, more than ever, the effort that Kea and Miguel and my sister Lauren and her hubby, Lance, have to make to stay involved in our children's lives (not that Andrea doesn't stay involved but there's so much less planning involved when you live close!).  Andrea/Vance and Mike and I have never lived more than 30 minutes apart - when Colby and Emma were little I lived in an apartment in the town Andrea grocery shopped in so we were able to catch up often and it was easy for me to come home.  I've always had "access" to my niece and nephew and their ball games, dance recitals, school programs, etc., and the same has been true for Andrea and Vance.  Not to say we make it to everything but there's power and freedom in knowing we can, I think, and I've never had to think too hard about how to actively be a part of Colby and Emma's lives.

Having a niece live two hours away puts a whole new perspective on making sure we do our part to create bonds, show love, and appreciate the time we have together.
So...without smothering, we all took a short turn showing Adelyn that our crazy noise equals love.

 Ameliya thinks maybe they can be friends after all.

After I hold Adelyn, my Mia needs reassured that she's still my special girl.

 Great Grandma Betty got her turn in, too.  This makes great grandbaby number 7 for her.

{ Truly, no one blames Adelyn for keeping her eye on the sassy cousin on the end. (wink)}
