Happy 5th Birthday, Xavier!

Xavier had a big birthday and I think he enjoyed *almost* every minute.  Waiting for his daddy to come home from work so he could open presents was hard but worth it.
He chose chocolate chip banana muffins for breakfast,
peanut butter & jelly with carrots and fruit for lunch, and biscuits and gravy for supper with cinnamon rolls for his birthday dessert.
We were bummed that it was raining, most of all the mother who had plenty of baking to do and wished her children could play outdoors.  I dug deep in my mommy brain and put together a couple of "activities" to make the day feel special and keep the big kids entertained.  They did plaster of paris decorative molds and heated rock/crayon drawings.

When Mike got home we dove right into presents, unable to wait any longer.  The one thing he asked us for was a "real" fire suit and a helmet with a breathing mask, so that's what we got him.
His voice, the pitch, the speed, the excitement....so very funny.

He's telling his dad all about it.

Natalee worked especially hard on this card for him.  I'm so delighted in her thoughtfulness.  She did her best and drew "Mikey" the ninja turtle because that's one of his favorites.
Bonus gift because his mom's the Usborne book lady. (http://b4185.myubam.com/p/1602/100-paper-planes-to-fold-fly)

The excitement!

I think he's suited up over 100 times already.

The gear came with a standard black hat that Xavier gifted to Natalee since he got the bigger one with the breathing apparatus.  We had a red hat that he ran up and fetched down for Mia...so everyone is set!  We have quite a fire fighting trio!

It was fun to watch Xavier save children, fight fires, and play out scenarios.  Truthfully it was hard for me to dole out "real" money for this "dress up outfit" but when I think about my son and what he loves to do, he spends over half of his day role playing.  He LOVES dress up role play - ninja turtle, batman, Army man, and of course, topping the list, fire fighter!
Happy birthday, buddy.  You are loved, you are wanted, and you are treasured!
Since his birthday Xavier keeps telling me he's now a "man."  I find him to be quite a crack up.
Love you, Xabe!  Here's to a great fifth year!
