Our New Town

Back towards the end of the spring semester, Mike came home and said he thought he'd gotten us a campus rental house.  We'd been looking at moving for 6 years now and thought we had our house sold 2 years ago (we were packed!) only to have it fall apart at the end (we had to unpack 😢).
The timing of this rental seemed to be a God thing and I told Mike to do whatever he thought was best for our family.  He asked me to come look at it, so at the end of May, the kids and I drove up to look it over.

My impressions of the rental...
The house itself is a simple ranch style 3 bedroom.  It's not overflowing with space but it's got sufficient space for our needs for a year or two.  The finished, dry basement is a huge deal breaker because the bedrooms are not big enough for much else than beds and clothes.
There is only one bathroom (sigh) but we'll adjust (I think).
The house is a bit dated (60's-70's), but in overall good condition.
The yard is a good size and we can take our swing set, trampoline, climbing dome, and play house.
It's 2 minutes from Mike's work.

After looking at the house, I was initially a little disappointed.  It would be too easy if it was my dream home, right?  But then, after we talked, we saw it's potential and realized the pros easily outweighed the cons, the biggest pro of them being that we could all be together and the rent was quite doable for the area.

The day we looked at the house, I took the kids to the campus to eat with Mike, and then to tour the library in our new town.  The library is a huge, full city block, three story building and the kids were over the moon with it.  There are a lot of programs there, too, that will give us things to look forward to during the week.

Moving is intimidating and hard and so very scary to leave our families and all we've built here, but we're also just a little cautiously excited to start this new adventure, and most importantly to be altogether.
