Nov 26-30 Recap

Another week of school under the belt.
Monday the 26th brought the aftermath of a "blizzard" so Daddy worked from home and we did our best to focus with him around.  We love it when Daddy is here but it feels like a holiday!

CORE
Math and Reading continued on per normal.  The big kids are almost done with Justin Morgan Had a Horse.  Natalee finished a book about Thomas Jefferson and Xavier continued reading Sarah Whitcher.  For writing I tried to be fun and tied our assignments in to The Grinch, since we'd seen the new movie on Saturday night.
The kids used a tutorial to draw Mr. Grinch and then were to write words describing him all around their illustrations.

Xavier:

Ameliya had to get in on the drawing action, too:

We made "Grinch Grams" and practiced writing compliments...
One of the big kids wrote the following compliment to Ameliya, "You are so fashionable."  He he he!
Zayden was in charge of stickering the poster. (busy hands...wink)
We also listened to the book and identified the main characters, setting, and conflict.

Natalee asked if they could write about their favorite ornament on the tree so they did that one day for writing.

Xavier:

We continued our Lewis and Clark journey in History and listened to a read aloud of Reddy Fox by Burgess for some light Science.

NON-CORE:
Besides Bible and the Art rolled up with writing there wasn't a ton of non-core studies this week.  Art, Story Hour, and Ballet were all canceled due to snow on Monday.
The children enjoyed some snow play on the days it was warm enough and we did go to JAM on Wednesday.  Xavier is still resting his foot from his stitches so he did a lot of free reading and lap games.
Battleship with mom!

Natalee had an appointment Friday so that pretty much wrapped up our week.

Neither of the younger two were too interested in formal preschool this week and that's okay.  They did calendar most everyday and then did a lot of playing together.  They got along really well, which was beautiful and exhausting.  Ha!  Ameliya did draw this lovely Nativity scene all on her own that made my heart happy.
