Happy 10th Birthday, Xavier!

Our Xavier hit the double digits this week!
Officially TEN!  He says it's so much older than 9!
We were around a lot of people this weekend, so we laid low for his birthday, but I think he had a good day regardless.
Starting his day with baby sister hugs.  She really does love him this much.
I tried to make the day special and "decorated" the night before.  I also hung streamers in his doorway to wake up to.
One present before breakfast!
Yee-haw!  (we fixed the string)
Some years I make homemade, some years they are from a can, but he almost always asks for cinnamon rolls for his birthday.
He rode some cinnamon rolls and bacon down to his dad at the office so that he could share in the treat.
Always books from this nerd-y mom.  He got the Extreme Adventures series and the beginning of the Wally McDoogle "My Life As..." set.  Wally McDoogle is written by the creator of McGee and Me (the old Christian TV series).
Look at little brother admiring the new set.

An adventure backpack just like Bear Grylls.
He requested homemade tacquitos for supper so I made up a big ole tacquito tower.  And, he ate 6.  Tacos is about the only way I can willingly get ground beef into Xavier!
The kids always think Xavier asks for the best things to eat for his birthday.  He thinks outside the box, keeps me in the kitchen much of the day if I don't plan ahead well, and chooses delicious foods.
Kansas Dirt Cake for dessert...
After we cleaned up supper, I put the youngest 2 to bed, and the other 3 took Dad over to the baseball field for a kids vs Dad kickball game.  Then Xavier got to stay up late and spend some time with Dad and the new Lego 2 Movie Maker set.
The next morning Xavier had one more gift waiting....
On Natalee's 10th birthday she got an old, but new to her iPad and it kind of set the standard for when children get to have an electronic device in our house.  I'm sure Xavier was wondering why he didn't get one on his birthday, and honestly, we were just running a little behind in getting it all ready and set up.  We finished it late Wednesday night and it was ready for him the next morning!
Mike thought the case I chose was a little juvenile, but I thought it seemed handy and strong.  And since I was doing the ordering....
Having your own device at our house still means it resides in a communal space in the home and you have to get permission to use it, but it's a small step towards growing up around here.
Xavier had many messages, snapchats, Marco Polos, and calls to wish him a blessed day.  Thank you all.
Xavier, we are so thankful you are our firstborn son.  You are passionate and kind and a good friend to all.  You love all things sports and are always eager to lend a hand.  We love you, bud.
