Homeschool Week {Swim & Gym, Lamb Sitting, Cousin Visit, & More!}

It was a busy week at B.L.I.S.S. Academy!

Monday
We tried to keep up with a very very busy Evalynn.  It's nearly impossible.
She's decided she doesn't like to be left alone.  Ever.
I mean, in her defense, she's pretty cute so she's not hard to be around.  It's just that we like to potty occasionally, or you know, sit alone.  Ha.
She also got under the recliner and got a nice owie.  Oh Evie.
School marched by...
This cutie little preschooler is a quick study.
Natalee has a pen pal with a similar CP diagnosis to her.  She enjoys writing to her about every week and drawing a picture to send along.
School lunch - on trays!
Mike's Grandma Betty needed to spend a few days in the hospital, so we took some time to send her e-cards and check in on her via Aunt Penny.

Tuesday
Tuesday we started a new Homeschool Swim & Gym class at the YMCA.  I was shocked at the low enrollment number (7 total, meaning we comprise over half the class) - we were so hoping it would be an opportunity to make many new friends - but we are still grateful that they had it and that it's going to be a great experience for our kids.
It's exciting to see the coach work at teaching skill, sportsmanship, and enjoyment of exercise to the kids.
Unfortunately the pool at the Y is down right now.  Sad!  They've promised to make up the swim lessons portion of our class when it's functioning, though.

The little two are excited for soccer to start soon - the whole house has sports fever right now!
Evie had an accident.  And daddy was at work.  Wah, wah, wah...

Wednesday
Mike worked the evening shift all week, which meant he was home for a little bit of school in the mornings.
Mia's reading has just improved so much!  It's so exciting to watch it unfold.
She got her first "big" reader!
We babysat a pair of bottle lambs for friends on Wednesday!
Mia was the most interested, but Zayden got braver towards the end.
Mia was able to help finish this little gal after I got her started with her bottle.
Zayden took this picture of his busy book work that he did while I was rocking Evie.

After the lambs left, I took Evalynn's six month pictures.  I was sweating by the end, but golly, she's a darling...
You can see them all HERE.

Then we took a walk/bike ride to soak in a little fresh air.  We used the campus sidewalks and saw daddy outside so everyone got hugs!

Thursday
We went back to gym (pool still down) and then hurried home because we had company coming!
(The current gym unit is on wiffle ball.)
Theo and Lauren came for a visit!
Three amigos...
Hey kids, pile on the couch for a picture!
Look at Evie.  She was good until those little boys holding her said "cheeeese" real loud....uh oh.
Sometimes she's touchy.
Natalee baked a cake for supper dessert.
Evie tried the coconut whipped topping.

Friday
Mike was off work because he four 10 hour evening shifts....
Zayden was being a turtle in the hall when I got up.
Mia's shin guards came in the mail!
Mike took the four older kids to their class at the conservation department about matter and they got to play with oobleck.  While they were gone Evie and I started sorting Legos for the greatest reorganization ever.

We ended the homeschool week back at the YMCA with Mia and Zayden.  They'll be doing a six week "sports sampler" on Friday evenings (a one hour class).  For two weeks they'll play basketball, then two weeks each of soccer and baseball.
They were the cutest little basketball players ever.  Again, I was impressed with the level of teaching with these 4-6 year olds.  By the end of the hour, both of our kids had markedly improved with their shooting technique.  Dribbling - well - they'll get there.
Look at them jump!
It was a very full week, which made it move by quickly.  We even got some sunshine and warm weather, which was just what we needed!
