Nature School

Chelsie invited us to go back to the lake/pond we went to this winter to let the kids tromp around and see what we could see.  We donned long pants and boots for tick prevention and headed out to enjoy the 75 degree day and the sunshine.
We had binoculars and pocket magnifiers that the kids got for Christmas so we took them along for the adventure.  Our binoculars came with wrist straps.  I promptly came home and ordered neck lanyards for them. (#momlife)
This kid frequently used his binoculars backwards but loved them.
I determined we need more practice with binoculars and pocket magnifiers, but we'll get there - hopefully.
Inspecting something...

The lilies weren't blooming yet, but we did find tadpoles in the pond, checked out the beaver huts, found a dead muskrat (science in action), and identified some animal tracks in the mud.

Snack Break!

Chelsie took the kids to a dense little place in the woods with a tiny stream trickling through it - just an inch of water and enough mud to get perfectly dirty.
Mia, Zayden, and Nora - quite a trio of fun.
Big brother had to go help little Sam pull his boots out of the mud.
Showing me his muddy bun - he went down a couple of times flat on his tush when his body tried to move forward but his boots said, "no thanks."
Baby Kolson is starting to like me - maybe because I always carry food, but I'll take whatever I can get.
This was exactly what we needed - fresh air, sun-kissed cheeks and arms, and memories with good friends!

We got home, checked for ticks, showered, ate supper and everyone went to bed early (mom included!)
