Camping

A couple of weekends ago we went camping up north of mom and dad's.  There were some unsavory bits of our little vacation, but there were also some sweet moments.  We actually ended back up and Grandma and Papa's the second night (they were gone) but it was still great to get away with just our kids for a weekend with no real plans.
Friday night we had a light supper and then had family games before bunking down.

Saturday was spent tromping through the woods, fishing, roasting hot dogs, carving pumpkins, and playing more games!
Everybody caught one!
The children, Natalee especially, loved running in the open "prairie."
After our late afternoon cook-out we decided to pack it in and go back to Grandma and Papa's for the evening and night.  My kids think it's a funny treat to sleep at their house when they travel.

We carved our pumpkins.  Mia didn't think the guts were funny and neither did Xavier, but Natalee dug in!
Then we did supper, games, showers, and bunked everyone down for bed.  Mike and I were exhausted!
The next morning we got up, tried to make sure we cleaned up well after ourselves, and packed up to head to church with family lunch after to meet a new cousin.
 Hi, Liam!

It was a sweet weekend, despite a couple of snafus, full of memories to share with each other!
