Halloween 2020

Halloween 2020 was about as strange as the rest of the year, beginning with the fact that our town moved candy collecting to Thursday "beggar's night."  Perhaps it's always been this way and we missed it last year, but I think it's strange to move things from a weekend to a week night.  But alas, we let our crew dress up, join their cousins, and get a few treats around town.

We don't do scary in the Beeler house and we don't over focus on this night, but we do let the children dress up as something imaginative and collect some candy.

Last year I clearance shopped the day after Halloween and all the children got dress up clothes for a Christmas gift.  This was what Natalee got and she was excited to wear it.  Beautiful butterfly.
Black Panther!
A monarch butterfly...
Iron Man!
And a third butterfly.  Do you love that my big girls chose to match Ev?
I so badly wanted a sweet picture of my 3 butterflies.  Ev so badly wanted to poo on my parade.
Evalynn was even angrier when she realized all the others were leaving with Daddy and she was staying behind with Mom.  We tried to give out candy but no one came.  We had 4 kids in the first hour.  We played.  I tried to take a sweet picture of my butterfly.
She tried to eat candy.
But eventually we loaded into the bus and went to find our people.  We followed them around and enjoyed watching them try to trick or treat.  There were very few houses with lights on and Mike and Eric had to do a lot of walking with the kids to find any success.
When I brought the bus around, they were happy to load up.  Eric directed us to a nice neighborhood and the kids found a few houses in a row with lights on.
Black Panther Jace on the left and Black Panther Xavier on the right.
Ev was happy to see her people and cried when they got back out of the van to trick or treat.
When we were all done, we came back to our house and the kids sorted their loot before we said farewell to the Brummers and got showers done and bodies in bed.
On actual Halloween, Oct 31st, we actually did....nothing.  I had thought we'd do a movie night, but we cleaned and rearranged furniture and the kids had played with their cousins in the afternoon, and so we just had a regular old night!
