{Finally} Baseball

It's been monsoon season here in northeast Missouri, which means our summer league ball kids haven't gotten to practice much or play games.
Xavier finally got his first game in on Wednesday and he was so excited!  I love watching baseball, so I was ready, too!

We made the hard decision to keep him "down" on the 7-8 boys league instead of letting him move up to 9-10.  Because of how his birthday falls, we've always had him play 'up' which has kept him with his peers, but then he's always the young, small underdog on the team.  There were several factors that came into us choosing to keep him on 7-8 for another year, but after watching his first game, we felt really justified in our decision.

He played great, he knew what was going on, for once he got to be a leader of sorts, and he's learning patience for those on the team that are younger than him.  This is going to be a great year of confidence building.
7-8 is still coach pitch and he got a hit every time he batted on Wednesday.

He also got to play shortstop and we were so proud of him when he caught a pop fly in the field.  He was equally pleased with himself and that was exciting to watch.

Friday night was his first home game.  Zayden is sick, so mom stayed home and dad got to go to baseball.  He hit every time and played short stop again.  One of his hits was a pop fly and got caught - all part of the game!  He was proud of his double.

We're hoping the rain holds up for awhile and we get some more ball in this week!
