Let's Go Fly a Kite...

...Up to the highest height.
 Let's go fly a kite...
 And send it soaring!
  Up through the atmosphere,
Up where the air is clear,
Oh, let's go fly a kite!

We've been promising to take our kids kite flying so today I seized the moment and took them.  We went out to the farm where the air is clear and the open spaces are plentiful and tried out kite after kite.  I think we tried 6-7!  Ameliya did a fair amount of whining, Xavier loved it and was able to wind his in by the end of it, Natalee had a great time and stayed way more interested than I thought she would.  Ameliya let go of 2 - as it turns out she's not trustworthy with a kite (wink) and Xavier let go of one.  We left a bit of kite string on the house TV antenna and another kite got caught on the pole barn but broke free...overall we left with all kites and handles in tact and only a couple of strings needing replaced.  Not too shabby!  Natalee's big kite was too light for the wind but Papa fixed it with a string of an old shirt added to the tail.  Thanks, Grandma and Papa for your help!

I thought Zayden was sleeping in the van, but he was doing this...
 Grandma saved him!
He crashed hard on the way home, though! (The van was stopped when I took this pic after unbuckling him.)
Overall kite flying was a success, although some consistent and extensive work by the (grand)parental figures was required!
