Weekly Wind Down {Fireworks, Big Pool Day, Lumberjacks!} July 3rd-9th

Sunday we went to worship and came back home.  The kids needed varying degrees of rest after a busy Saturday.  After supper and showers we drove out to the sports complex for the city fireworks.  They were beautiful and the evening was gorgeous.
We were early but the kids ran around and enjoyed the evening and sharing glow sticks with other children running around.
If you enjoy a good fireworks show, you'll appreciate the video.
The night was so nice we didn't want to go in when we got home.

Monday was the actual holiday.  I always think it's weird that towns yield to convenience and celebrate on the weekend when it is clearly July 4th that we are commemorating.  But, I digress.  The Beelers didn't do much "holiday"ing on Monday - we worked hard.  We cleaned, Mike completed several little projects that needed done, and I scrubbed cabinets, walls, etc.  When we were all at the end of our grace filled ropes with little Evie's "helping" I treated her to a nice long bubble bath while I scrubbed and cleaned out the bathroom cabinets.
We did end the day with an all American meal.  Nothing more American than steak, salads, and corn on the cob.
There was some time left in the evening for backyard play and sno cones!
Pink sand in the sand & water table has been SUCH a hit!
A game of PIG before cleaning up.

Tuesday was an early morning for Natalee and I.  I went along to her OT and PT appointments since Mike was off for a flex holiday.
I came home for about 45 minutes and then headed out with Zayden for an appointment with our family doctor.  I was disappointed for him that his ear isn't cleared up and needs more attention.  You all know I really dislike antibiotics but we use them when necessary.  It's just so hard on his tummy and the effects are lasting.  Please keep praying for this to clear up.  On a positive, I think we've finally found a doctor that really resonates with our family.  This is an answered prayer.

Mike and I decided after such a big working day Monday that we'd treat the kids to a day at the public pool Tuesday afternoon.  We were there right when they opened at 1 and stayed until 6!  They had a blast but were sure tired.
Penny met us at the pool with Jace and Rogan.  Always more fun with friends.
When we first arrived, I took the oldest three and gave them a thorough work out in the deeper water.  I watched them on the slides, diving boards, swimming across.  I made Mia jump off the side into deep water and swim to various places before letting her on the diving board or slides.  I was sure Natalee would be good to go and she was.  Xavier did fine, though he is faster on land than in water.  Ameliya is a regular fish and I was quite impressed with her abilities.  Pool rules stated that Mia had to be accompanied regardless of her swim ability so Mike and I tag teamed with her.  We let the big kids do their thing as long as they were with a buddy or we knew where they were.
Zayden was pretty content to stay in the shallow and Evalynn LOVED it.  She played and played and played.  A couple times we put puddle jumpers on them and took them to the deeper water to play.  Mike worked hard with Mia on treading so she could try to pass her green band test at camp next week.  She is one determined swimmer!
We came home for a quick easy supper of tacos and got everyone to bed!
Wednesday Mike went back to work.  Natalee was supposed to have a zoom meeting at 9 but it got canceled.  Everyone snuggled in our bed for a little TV time before we got our day slowly moving.
We didn't even play outside much Wednesday.  Just tired after a busy day.

Thursday was hippotherapy/speech day.
In between hippotherapy and speech I took Mia and Natalee for hair appointments.  Mia lost quite a bit of length to clean her ends up and take off the rest of her "sick" hair from years ago but now it looks soooo much healthier.  The stylist thought this was probably the last round of hair leftover that was from the days of medication and stuff.  Natalee had her split ends cleaned up and got hers thinned.
We ran through dollar tree for a few camp supplies and to look at their back to school stuff.  I got everyone a "lego" box as a treat.  Mia made a chess/checkers board and a tic-tac-toe board and the pieces to place with and stored her pieces in the box.
Evie has been fully potty trained for awhile but bowel movements on the big potty (vs potty chair) have been a struggle.  Dye free "M&Ms" as a reward for being willing to use the big potty!
The kids played outside for several hours before we got cleaned up and wound down with the news before bedtime.

Friday started slow.  Zayden had a bad dream in the night and quietly snugged into our bed.  I'm glad he still seeks us when he's scared.
Morning sister story time.
Evie dressed up as Minnie Mouse several days last week!
All four older children successfully labeled all 50 states and the oldest two also did the state capitals.  We'd never done a final states quiz after our geography unit so I thought it was good to check.  Zayden also named a third of the capitals and I think he could have done more if he would have let me write them!
I drain the water every night and put in fresh the next day.
Our friends from Colorado made it to town Friday and Quinn came over to play with his twin brother, Cade.  Their mom, Lannea, walked down with them and we got to visit in person for a few minutes.  We really enjoy them all!
On Saturday we got up and around and headed to Lancaster to visit Mike's folks.  We helped them work up a tree that had fallen in a storm and get it hauled off and enjoyed lunch and catching up with them.
I was chuckling at Ev on the drive....she has a bag of plastic people and she was replicating their poses on the drive to pass the time.
Lumberjack Mike....
Got the chainsaw stuck when the trunk shifted and pinched the blade....they tried this method for awhile but in the end it took my ingenuity to get it loose (wink).  This was entertaining though...
Xavier worked HARD on Saturday and kept up with the grown men and then some.  I'm thankful for his good work ethic.
I took this dolly around to the front to ride her bike when she was getting a little too brave around all the big branches and chainsaw.
We left around 5 and stopped at Aldi for a quick run through on the way home.  A fairy garden definitely wasn't on the grocery list but it was 50% off and the last one.
We had a quick, late supper of leftover salsa chicken rewarmed in the oven when we got home and then got to bed before it was too late.  I wanted rested girls before they left for camp the next day!
