A Precious Weekend {Family Saturday & Friend Sunday} July 30-31

What a beautiful weekend.  On Saturday, Kea, Miguel, and the girls came up to spend the whole day with us.  They drove midway (to Lancaster) on Friday evening and then came Saturday by lunchtime, with the express purpose of just getting to catch up and be together.  This summer has been a strange kind of lonely time for us in some ways so we really felt blessed to have them at the house.  Phil and Sara came up a little later in the day, which was a surprise to the kids, and so it was a full day of family, relaxing, too much food, half a dozen clothes changes for the little girls, and beautiful memories.

We had grilled chicken salads for lunch with lots of sides and ordered pizza for supper.....and in between meals somehow ate ice cream bars, 4 dozen banana cookies, sno cones, iced coffees, pounds and pounds of fruits and veggies, chips & grandma Betty dip, and so much more.  I'd like to point out that I did not indulge in ice cream bars, cookies, or sno cones.  LOL

Sno cone break...
I almost can't show you this picture because of how grimy the door window looks behind the girls, but golly they are too cute for me to not show.  That door got it's work out and after seeing some photos with little ones standing in front of it, I remember I need to paint it's frame!
Twister time!  God gave us a beautiful day and we netted over 5 hours outside together (my kids got an additional 2 in before our family arrived).

Backyard catch...
Trying out the ninja line...
We talked about some serious stuff but also shared a lot of laughs...
These sweeties played so well all day.  They would get wet, switch clothes, lay their other clothes in the sun, and repeat.
The basketball hoop got a work out also!
Papa is back there snacking on banana cookies.
Ice cream break...
nap time for papa...
Scooter rides!
Pizza time!
Granny and Papa headed out after supper and the rest of us soaked up every last minute we could of catching up.  It was really hard to say good-bye this time.

selfie - after he took a picture of the "old folks" visiting...

I ran these muddy footed little cuties through a bubble bath after a FULL day of fun.  There's no relief (to me as a mom) as knowing your overtired little person is clean and can go from car to bed without having to wake up for a shower.

We know our lives are crazy and the distance in miles and hours between us is not easy, but we sure do pray over these beautiful nieces, same as we do our nephews and other niece, that they always know Mike and Gigi are in their corner.
Saturday was a beautiful day.

As though our hearts couldn't get any fuller, on Sunday we got to host again, this time for our sweet friends.
With July coming to a close, so did Zach's 7 year position as the preacher at Two Timbers Church in Osky.  Mike decided to go to worship and play guitar for service with Zach for his last Sunday, and say hello to our friends there.  The kids have been enjoying their Sunday School classes at the church we've been attending so we decided not to interrupt their groove and I took them to church and class there this week.
We are so thankful for Zach's time at Two Timbers and rejoice that he gets to reclaim his Sundays as a family day with no flurried travel.  We have plans to visit them once we get through the exhausting "back to school" month that university life brings.
Texts I get from my hubby....if there's a baby to steal {wink}...
After church we convened at our house with Madi & Landon, and Zach & Chelsea and their precious girls.  Mike grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, and brats, and we had lots of sides.  A bit carb heavy today - my planning wasn't balanced - but still so delicious.

And we realized Haddyn and Evalynn matched in their church outfits today!!
oh my heart.....
We are so thankful to be in the lives of these precious girls and their parents.  What a gift.  Haddyn and Lindly, we sure do love you.
Evalynn couldn't stand the thought of going to a room alone for a nap with so much fun happening, but she was so tired from yesterday, so she curled up on Chelsea's lap for a little snooze while I snuggled Haddy.
When she woke up she talked Chelsea into braiding her hair....and did NOT let Mike take them out at bath time tonight!
adored...treasured...loved
Not very many proof of parents photos from Sunday, but the kids are sweeter anyways!
Sunday was a lovely day.

Our hearts overflow.
