Week in the Life, Jan 30-Feb 5 {Shirley Temple, Allergist Visit, Running!}

Another week zoomed on by and brought with it a new month!

Sunday started with foam curlers for Mia which made Shirley Temple curls for church!

Mike and Zach played for worship and our family especially enjoyed the songs.  I think it's a privilege that our kids are getting to learn both hymns and contemporary worship music.  We'd love to add to this 2 man band!
Tiniest groupie needed her 'noculars.

Sunday afternoon we had friends from church and we watched the football game.
Monday was back to schedule per usual.
Natalee learned about symmetry in math.
Xavier had a helper for his math time!
Zayden was working with temperatures for math and had to go outside to get a thermometer reading.  Ignore the dirty window and peep the cute student.
Any day that it's semi decent I do all I can to get us outside.  On this day Zayden had a school lull and so he and Ev went to ride scooters on the cement right out the backdoor.
Mia joined them to read in the sunshine for awhile.
An afternoon quiet moment for mom meant a cup of hot tea with one of the tea drops my sister sent.

Tuesday was an early start.  Natalee had OT and PT and Zayden had an allergy appointment an hour away.  We dropped Natalee off at therapy before heading out of town and Aunt Penny picked her up and took her home to Mike for us.
(Just a mom being pretty impressed with her MPG with the studded snow tires on.)
Zayden's appointment went well and didn't reveal much new information except that his allergy to dogs has lessened.
He was an excellent boy, of course.
Allergy appointments overwhelm me.  I came home pretty agitated, actually, for no real reason.  The reason we went is because he's suffering from sniffles, ear fullness, etc., daily even with allergy meds so we thought perhaps his plan needed reworked.  He does have outdoor spring-fall allergies, which should be much less right now, so that always makes me feel bad that it's his indoor allergies of dust, etc., that are affecting him.  I went on a bit of a cleaning rampage when we got home, even though we do clean regularly and the house is fine.  I just can't help feeling that it's on me.  Anyways, cleaning led to some purging, which led to freshening bedding, which meant the princess sheets got discovered, which meant........
It hasn't kept her from coming into our room in the middle of the night every night but she does love them.

Wednesdays are busier days.  Mia has gymnastics, we do chiropractor right after, this week Mia had OT, and Natalee has a zoom appointment during naptime.  We use the in between moments for school, read alouds, and food.  This dolly was all sweet and ready for the day.
Idaho!

Thursday Natalee's hippotherapy appointment got bumped up to an earlier time and it was actually kinda nice.  We did geography before we left.
After naptime Papa Curtis was here for a visit with frosties for snack.  He took Mia back with him for some 1 on 1 Papa-Grandma time for a couple days.  Baking with Grandma was big on her list of things to do.  Ev is staking down Papa's shoes so he can't leave.

Friday we were back to hippotherapy.  Natalee was asked to help do a demonstration of the program for students and staff from Dordt University so we got to watch her rock that.
Someone brought doughnuts for the special occasion.  The children were here for it, especially Evalynn.  I've decided she's a better mini doughnut gal - she can't make her way around a big doughnut.  But she tries...
Even when you have many children, having one gone makes things a little off-kilter.  I made too many plates for Friday's meals when I served and couldn't figure out where I'd gone wrong until I realize Mia was not here.
Fridays are lighter school days when we can, so the children got to relax a bit and then Friday night we did movie night.  The girls watched Aladdin...
The boys watched Cars 2.

Saturday was, of course, basketball.
It's the ball slap for me...
Zayden made a basket during his game!
Aunt Penny was there for basketball and Ev made sure she got some attention!
Parents of many children....like regular parents but more tired.
Xavier's turn!
His game moves so fast that it's hard to get any good pictures.

After basketball we decided to run to Missouri to get Mia and save Grandma the trip on Sunday.  When we got there we found an Artie...
and a Theo...
(and an Uncle Lance.)
The boys were overjoyed to see each other.  While they still do lots and lots of wrestling, jumping, and running there are moments where they are still to play a game or be sane and all is calm...for the moment.  Here the boys and Mia were playing round robin Guess Who.
When Evalynn claims Grandma's lap, Arthur crawls over and protests!  He knows who butters his bread!
Theo's height is surpassing Zayden's!  The race is on!
Saturday was busy, but good.  We came home in time to get showers and get to bed - even mom - I was beat!  Somedays my energy feels just fine post COVID and some days I'm reminded that I'm still in rest/recovery mode! (My hair is also coming out in large quantities, but that's a story for another day.)
