Tuesday {Estuarium + Beach Play}

Tuesday (Sept 14th) brought a steady drizzle on the island.  We at first thought we would go to Fort Gaines but when the drizzle persisted we chose to go to the estuarium instead.

Natalee loves the signs and all the reading.
We did not bring Natalee's chair into the estuarium and we should have - there was more walking that we anticipated and she was really tired when we got done.  There were a lot of benches to take a break on, and she used those.

I think almost everyone was brave and made an attempt at petting the rays - Evalynn was bravest of all and worked hard to touch them when they swam by!

After we finished at the estuarium we tried to have a meal out, but weren't able to be seated due to staffing shortages and our family size, so we went back to the condo.  We had plenty of groceries!

While Evalynn napped after lunch and Mike had some time to himself, I took the oldest four down to the beach to play.  It was still drizzling, but, I mean, we were here, right?
We played for over two hours in the rain, building our sand castle town.  You'll notice several of the kids in life vests - it was a red flag day on the beach, but we rinsed off after our playtime and jumped in the pool, so some wanted life vests for floating around in.
We had the beach to ourselves.
I worked on my seashell collection and everyone helped me hunt with the nets.
Beelertown - our sand castle villa.
While we played, Mike read his book, put in a lasagna to bake for supper, and watched us from the balcony.  He'd had a crummy morning with work stuff Tuesday morning and I'm glad he had a chance to reset.

This kids played hard at the pool, while I sittervised and then when we went up so they could shower before supper, Evalynn was awake!  She realized she had missed all the fun of the afternoon, so she and mommy went on a beach walk of our own.  I actually just intended to walk her around the halls a bit, but she was going to the beach!

Tuesday night it stormed hard all night  We woke up Wednesday to a lot of water.
