Airport & Conservation Department Field Trip

We had a big day Tuesday.  After karate we headed to the small local airport for a tour of their facility and to watch a plane land and take-off.

The employees did a good job of explaining the equipment, regulations, and facility to the children.
I do wish the children could have seen inside a plane but I suppose regulations prevent those type of things.  They enjoyed seeing the fire truck.
These are privately owned planes.  The large one used to be George Straight's!  That was not exciting to the children...none of them knew who George Straight was!
It was fun to watch the passengers board...a little girl boarded this plane and several of the passengers waved.

After the airport, we went to the state Conservation Department.  They allowed us to use their picnic facility for our picnic lunch, and then we toured their hands on exhibits.

Karen did a great job with a Missouri owls presentation for the children.
Overall, this was a good, but very tiring day for this mom and four kids!  I do think the children enjoyed the opportunities they had and learned quite a bit for their young minds!
