Valentine's Day Boxes

Next weekend is full up for us so we decided to get a jump on things and help the kids with their Valentine's boxes today.  Originally Natalee wanted a rainbow box and Xavier a motorcycle.  While intimidated, I was excited by their originality.  Before it was all said and done, Natalee changed to a heart box and Xavier to a car...not so original.  {sigh}
However, the boxes are theirs, not ours, so we got on board and started crafting.

Natalee was plain and easy to please - a purple box with hearts.  Okay then.  I told her I could help her make a heart person for her box and that suited her fine.  She then went hog wild with some stickers - we added a glitter hair bow to her heart person and she's happy as a clam.  Whatever dude!  She did do most of the work herself - I drew the hearts for her but she cut them out and glued them on - chose the colors and arranged it all how she liked it.  She's very pleased!
Natalee chose Cinderella valentine's this year.  Every year I offer to help the kids make hand crafted valentine's but something about those boxed Valentine's draws them in.  We bought from the Dollar Tree this year so it wasn't hard for me to say yes to spending $1 on a box of valentine's instead of making them!

Xavier's box was a bit more complex and he's more detail oriented about his designs.  I was so impressed with how he stuck right with his dad for all the cutting, covering, gluing, etc.  He had a blast putting decals on his car and he's pleased that it matches the Hot Wheels valentine's he chose (thank you again, Dollar Tree).  He loved my bag of poms the best and chose 6 for headlights and 4 big ones for wheels.  He was also pretty impressed that mom had foam racing stickers tucked away (go me!...even though he used them last year too. lol).

This year we have the opportunity to go to a homeschool Vday party with our local group.  However, since it's our last year with our daycare friends we've opted to stay home and do our daycare party as the Joyful Jamboree.

I was on a blogging hiatus last year but we did a Vday party with the Jamboree then too:

 2013 - Natalee made a castle and Xavier made a garage
(He looks like a baby...sniff, sniff.)
