and how do you spell this?

Elle

or

Ellie

or

Ellee

or

Elly (Elley)

or some other way?

it has the long /e/ sound at the end.

and do you like elle cynthia? a friend at work popped it off today & its kinda sticking but i'm not entirely sold. somedays i wish i had a very decisive personality. i do like its meaning...noble, exalted, shining light.

I love Elle, not so wild about the combination...but it would grow on me. I don't think it'll be a name combo you just spout off like Emma Joyce. Very sweet...makes me think of plump cheeks...don't' know why!

I think you could spell it any of the ways that you mentioned. I think Elle is traditional though. I really like that name and Ella and Elaine. Steve and I just love the name Elaine but can't use it for family reasons. I also like Anna (grace)and Ava (voice). Not that you asked for my opinion but there it is.

love your opinion, Corin. i'm afraid that the short /a/ sound at the end of the 1st name & the same sound at the end of cynthia might be a lot of /a/. glad you like elle though...we might have a winner.

and andrea, it makes you think of plump cheeks b/c what else would a child of mine have?

I like the name alot. Sounds sweet for a baby and elegant for a woman. Personally, not that it matters, I like the look of Elle, but wouldn't pronounce it right just looking at it--I would think it rhymes with Belle, kwim? She could always correct people (Andrea and I have corrected people about the pronunciation of our names our whole lives, I'm sure) just sharing my first thought. :)
