Autumn Acres Field Trip

We had beautiful weather to spend a couple of hours at Autumn Acres this afternoon enjoying lots of fall fun!
The photos speak for themselves today....
Corn cannon (but with tennis balls this year!) and slingshot were first!
The kids bounced back and forth between jumping on hay bales, riding the lawnmower train, going down the big slide, and jumping on the inflatable pillow.
Xavier and Zayden on the hay bales.
Xavier spent most of his time on the hay bales and rolling the big tubes full of other boys.  We have a wide age span of children right now, and I'm thankful our big kids want to come along still and make the best of their time and our time together.
Lawnmower train.
I planned this field trip and invite anyone who wanted to come.  We had friends from Tuesday morning mom's group, one family from our co-op in Newton, and some families we hadn't yet met that came from the Facebook invite I put in the homeschool group.
We went on a hay wagon ride to the corn field and had a mini lesson on corn.  The children all got to pick an ear of corn, too.
After the hay wagon ride, Mike took the four older kids to the corn maze and Evie and I played some more.
Evie and Zayden were really drawn to the corn pit.  It was so windy and the dust was blowing really hard that I kept their time in there to a minimum.  Zayden especially shouldn't be in much dust, and Evalynn kept getting it in her eyes.  I do love a good sensory experience so I definitely see the attraction!
The big slide is always such a hit.  Evalynn walked up like a champ, sat down on her feed sack, let the helper push her over the edge....and then lost it.  It was comical in that there was nothing we could do for her but let her ride the 7 seconds down and then comfort her.  Then I made her go again on my lap and she was convinced it was fun after all.
A screenshot of her face the first time down.....lol.  Mike was, of course, recording her going down because we were so impressed at her bravery.
The kids also played carpetball and gaga ball, played on the pirate ship playset, and chose pumpkins before we left.
pouting because it was time to go...
Such a great day in the sunshine!  It was rainy in the morning and the cold wind really blew in just an hour after we got home, so it felt like God really favored our couple of hours!
