Xavier Turns 12

Xavier often seems so much wiser and more mature than his 12 years.  He's grown so much physically this year, too, that most people are surprised that he's *just* now 12.
Xavier is an advocate for the least of these.  He's a friend to all and a helpful hand.

We started his birthday with a big brunch per Xavier's request.  Bacon, eggs, biscuits and gravy, and hash browns.  It's silly but I love having a festive table ready for the kids' birthday mornings.
After breakfast, Xavier opened his gifts.  He got an early gift from us of a new baseball glove that he picked out while we were in the city Wednesday.
Yankees socks and a new bandana from Zayden.
Do you love the family photogs??  So cute.
An organizer for his baseball cards.
Mia got him a new to go cup for his hot tea.
A Bible bag "like dad's" (but cooler, according to Xavier).
cutie
He also got a couple of Nerf pistols, which led to a nerf gun battle in the living room.
The afternoon was kind of chill.  Xabe organized his baseball cards and built his birthday Lego technics set.  The kids played.
Jace came over for a bit to play, which was fitting since the boys share a birthday.
Mia and Natalee mixed up Xavier's cake for me and I baked it and let it cool.  He asked for a baseball cake.  I ended up using artificial dye for the red lines, because let's face it - natural red dye is usually pink.  This goes against pretty much all my family standards, but I have to take a deep breath sometimes and remind myself that one bit of dye doesn't mean a steady diet of it.
Xavier was impressed.
Frozen entrees are a rarity in our house, and getting more rare with inflation, so Xavier's treat he chose for supper was chicken patty sandwiches.  Mike made Grandma Betty dip and we cut up a watermelon and carrots.
We ate early so that we could go over to the last night of homeschool softball.  Spending his birthday evening playing ball with friends pretty much rounded out the perfect day for Xavier.
I love you so much, my boy.  You are my go to guy and I appreciate all that you do and are.  Praying that your year 12 finds God at the center and you following your dreams and passions.
