February Slipped On By

The second half of February slipped by us in a flurry of a round of sickness.  The children took a virus one at a time.  For the most part it was short lived, except for Evie.  Her sinus drainage turned into a bad ear infection that seemed to linger a long time.  The nights blended into days and we had some days that were just spent in pajamas, trying to survive.

In the sickness and the snot there were some sweet snuggles and school moments.  A photo montage from the latter half of February....

I gave sourdough starter a try.  I ended up giving up when the children got sick because my starter was young and I didn't have extra moments to baby it, but I'd like to try again.  Sourdough bagels...

Trying to keep my head above water...
Evalynn has developed a love for books!
These were the cold cold days of February.  We had piles of snow and below zero temps.

A made all my sourdough starter into pancakes.  They were delicious.
Playing games while Natalee rested.  She was sick this day.
And then Mom took a sick day.  Whether it was mental-physical or emotional-physical it was needed.  I did some teaching from my bed while Mike balanced the rest of the load, and it was actually one of my favorite days of the season.
Daddy snuggles!
Evie has some age appropriate sensory defenses that we've just been helping her work on in easy and healthy ways.  Messy hands is one of them.  She warmed up to the shaving cream and having the ability to dip her hands in the water to rinse them was a winner for her!
games while some recovered...
she is fashion...
Look!  We did school, too!
more games...
Zayden had a rough day and he was fully healthy, so he and I went to Smokey Row for supper.  He forgot to share that big cinnamon roll!
Loves the Papa shirt!
queen mess maker...
February's Bible study was on anxiousness....
So fitting if you know what was shaking with me behind the scenes...
Mia's day to recover...
and little Evie got sick...
Evie seems to vomit anytime she has a fever, no matter what the reason for the fever is, so keeping her hydrated is a real trick.
Completed a kanoodle challenge!
so many sick snugs needed...
finally eating something - a no bake cookie but we called it a win.
He volunteered to help Daddy shovel the walks and Daddy said he worked hard and deserved a payment!
The children were all up, but little Evie was sleeping with Daddy in the living room, so I piled them all in our bed and put on a show.
zoobs builds!
Natalee began private swim lessons and made so much progress!  We're very proud of her.

We thought Ev was better for a couple of days, and the weather warmed up enough to enjoy being outside.
a curl...
Look at those kids with no coats.  Despite the snow piles it was gorgeous for a couple of days!
A rest after playing so hard outside.
Our artist...

Still not sleeping at night - is she well or is she still sick?
colored rice in the sensory bin...
Woke me up with another zoob creation - isn't it cool!?

One day was warm - the next was a false warm.  Not nearly as nice as the day before!
Just sitting outside in my housecoat showing the college students what they have to look forward to in life.
Feeling crummy and her fever spiked back up after two days without.  We took her to the walk in clinic.
Planning some travels.
Rest and be well, baby.  This became the theme of almost 3 weeks.  Mom got really exhausted.
These two are playing a game they made up.
Mia had a reading assessment so I took her along to Natalee's swim lesson one evening to work through it with me.
sleeping in her bottom bunk....
Feeling a bit better and doing some coloring.
Xavier had a great basketball game at the Y!

Everyone finally recovered and we made a trip to see Papa and Grandma.  A great end to a long month.
