Big Girl Ponytail

Mia's hair is just getting long enough to eek into a big girl ponytail!
 Little sweetie...
 And pig tails, which she hates...
 {and obviously her mommy can't make a straight part}

He's So Suave

Such a handsome fella...
 Blue eyes, side part...

Re-bunked

Last March we stumbled across some bunk beds for our girls' room.  We've been so grateful for the floor space the bunks offered the girls this past 11 months, however we soon realized that having Natalee (the heavier of the 2) on the top bunk didn't make for the most stable situation.  The bunks were stable, sure enough, however every time she rolled the set shook.  We could not redistribute the weight and move Ameliya to the top bunk on this set, as there was no guard rail, so we decided to start looking around for a different set, and ideally one with a full bed on the bottom and a twin on top.  I put out a feeler on Facebook, and a friend gifted us with a very nice wooden set that was just what we wanted.  The kicker was that the set had been drawn and colored on, however our friend was very forthright with this and so we decided to take it and sand it all down and paint it.  This was some months ago, and as projects go, it sat in the garage for awhile.  Mike worked on it here and there, but this weekend we got it all out and got down to work as a team.  We both sanded and washed and painted and it really looks so very nice.  It sanded down with a little diligence and time, and the gray paint keeps it quite classy.  We're so grateful for this blessing to our family.  I even had the forethought to paint the slats on the top bunk so they look nice from underneath!  {So proud of myself.}

Since the ladder is the straight up/down of the side of the bed vs a ladder we still supervise Ameliya up and down.  She is getting it, and soon will be scaling it without our watchful eye.

Ameliya was very excited to get top bunk privilege!  Such a big girl.
As it often goes with me and projects, I pushed through and convinced my handsome hubby to switch the bed sets out Sunday night.  That means that Natalee had to sleep on her old twin mattress in the full mattress spot.
Monday morning, Daddy went to the furniture store and got Natalee a nice new double full mattress.  She may have the nicest mattress in the house right now. {grin}
{Don't fool yourself into thinking I climb up there and make Ameliya's bed every day.  I don't.}
My plan was actually for the girls to sleep on the bottom together for awhile until Ameliya was more proficient on the steps to her bed, but so far they've stuck to their own beds.  Ameliya just calls for us when she needs down and we scurry to her like little maids.
And so, as the children grow, we find ways to keep up, or moreover God finds ways to provide for our needs, even in this humble little house.

Ameliya

So many reasons to love this girl.

Monkey

This kid continues to climb.  He climbs and he climbs.  Sometimes he falls, but not often.  He's quite strong and sees all things as mountains to be conquered.

Watch his master plan in action.
Climb into chair with bowls (decoys)...
 Innocently begin playing with bowls...
 Inch bowls towards middle of table, causing self to lean onto table top.
 Whole upper body on table...one leg...
Act innocent, edge forward...
 How's that? Am I on the table? How did that happen? What a shock!
 And smile.  Continue innocence.
 It's all fun and games until mommy cages the monkey!

Chef

Our little chef...
How fun to have a dye free, not so "junk filled" instant pudding for our children to get to try out their hand at cooking.
 Thanks JELL-O for the new Simply Good Vanilla Bean natural instant pudding mix.
 He was a very proud little chef.

Beautiful Days

We have been blessed with unusually warm weather this February.  I mean 50s-70s, short sleeves, bare feet weather.  It's been absolutely beautiful.

It's been too nice to want to be indoors to cook or clean.  Poor little house!

Our beautiful crew...
Thank you, Jesus, for all the natural Vitamin D!
