Happy 5th Birthday, Mia!

Mia's birthday celebrating lasted for 3 days, which is really a pretty good deal if you can manage it.
The day before her birthday, Xavier had an appointment in Columbia.  Grandma Num came along with me and Papa told her to treat the big girl to a big supper.  Since we left Columbia early afternoon we waited until we were almost home and stopped to eat at Colton's.

Her birthday fell on a Friday, which meant we had to be at the school for sis's OT/PT at 8:00 a.m.  I packed one of her presents along so she'd have a little something special while we waited.
After therapy a stop at Casey's for birthday doughnuts was pretty much a must...
We video called Daddy so she could open a couple of her presents...it's so hard to wait all day when your Daddy works so far away so he's always generous to let the kids open their presents if he can't get off for their birthdays.
Mia was a really fun and gracious gift receiver, which is always a joy to witness.
We've been reading Brambly Hedge, which is a fun series of stories about mice and Mia is really into the book.  A Woodzeez tree house with some Calico Critter friends was just the ticket for her little imagination.
The kids played for hours with the new tree house and friends.
Shayna stopped by with birthday goodies...
And then one more gift after Daddy came home - a diary and a Spirit book...
When Daddy came home we had burritos for supper at the birthday girl's request and ice cream sundaes (she didn't want cake this year!).

The next day we had grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins over to celebrate one last time.
Pizza for an early supper was just the ticket and then more ice cream, of course.
Presents for a loved little girl...
Aunt Lauren got her a Picture This dress - Mia gets to design it and the company will print the dress in Mia's size and send it to her.  Mia has already been working on her designs.
Papa's sidekick...
Our Mia is so loved and we are so thankful for her.  Last year we waited 2 months for her to have a window of wellness just enough to celebrate her birthday.  We are so grateful for her health and for her life.

March Sunshine

March brought with it a little sunshine - just right for bike rides, porch picnics, and Vitamin D sessions.
Ignore the piles of snow...see the sun!?
Trying to pretend warm while doing read alouds on the porch!

Buddy Sleepover

Xavier got to have a buddy, Alex, over for a sleepover and he was SO excited.
They had a big time being boys, playing Legos, and just enjoying life.  I didn't take any pictures except these, of the ice cream cookie sandwiches I made them for supper dessert!
The boys slept in the office on the daybed/trundle and Mike slept on the couch just in case they needed anything.
